Deewali

DEEWALI

A time of imagination

A time of mythology

Dozens of lamps, placed in a row

Lighting the way for me

Oil lamps abound

All lighting the sky

This festival celebrates

The time Naraka finally did die

Magic and joy

As fire works blast

Crackers we light

And prayers we cast

With cheers and shouts

The whole nation will celebrate

Embellishing their house

Decorations which are elaborate

Food, honey and special sweets

Essence floating fragrantly

Mixing in the atmosphere

Together with the streamers and confetti

The music of temple bells

Listen as the notes fly by

To the heavens above

Dancing in the sky

The little kids in the village

Through the streets, scamper

As they play games and dance around

And not come home till it is darker

The streets all filled with lights

From the shops and stalls

Opened throughout the nights

Before the day Deewali falls

A day for the gods

A day which is holy

A day for celebrations

A day called Deewali

HAPPY DEEWALI TO ALL!!!!!
