A Soldier Ants Journey

A Soldier Ants Journey

Upon the forest floors,

Among the rotting logs,

There stumbles a little soldier ant,

Through rain, through shine, through fog.

He journeys through the jungle,

Up trees and through grass blades,

Through the brightness of the sunlight,

And into the leaf’s shade he fades.

Through the grass he ambles,

And through the hot desert he marches,

As he retains memories of fallen companions,

As he glances at their carcass.

The ant hikes the dirt mound “mountain”

And onto the sandy “plateau,”

Upon the battle field “plains,”

Pride upon him, he’ll bestow.

Very small he might be,

But he carries a big heart,

With honor and bravery,

To war, he will depart.

He will rally to the fields,

Where he might pass away,

He will not turn back now,

Or even bring upon dismay.

Confrontation with an enemy,

Face to face with a foe.

Will he ever return to home?

No one will know.
